About
Justice Desk Africa is an award-winning human rights organisation founded in Cape Town in 2013. Operating across South Africa and multiple African countries, their mission is to empower everyday people — especially youth and vulnerable communities — to understand, claim, and defend their human rights. Their key focus areas include Gender-Based Violence, Human Trafficking, Children's Rights, and Human Rights Education.
They work primarily in township communities such as Nyanga, Khayelitsha, and Bonteheuwel, bringing support directly to the people who need it most.
What They Offer Survivors
The Mbokodo Club (The Rock Club) This is Justice Desk Africa's flagship programme for girl survivors of GBV and rape, aged 9–19. If you are a young woman who has experienced gender-based violence or sexual abuse, the Mbokodo Club offers: - Empowerment and leadership workshops - Mental health support - Self-defence training - A safe community of peers who understand your experience
The Mbokodo Club is rooted in the belief that survivors have the strength to lead their own healing and their own change.
Human Rights Education Justice Desk Africa helps survivors understand their legal rights — knowledge that is power when navigating the justice system, accessing services, or simply knowing what you deserve as a human being.
Advocacy They advocate at national and international levels for the rights of survivors and vulnerable communities, working to challenge the systems that allow GBV and human trafficking to persist.
Youth Ambassador Programme Young survivors and activists can become Justice Ambassadors, using their voices and experiences to educate peers and communities, and to drive change from the ground up.
Community Empowerment Justice Desk Africa runs over 20 active programmes, bringing human rights training and psychosocial support directly into vulnerable communities. They partner with schools, civil society organisations, and governments to create safer environments for all.
