About

GBV response in Newcastle and the Amajuba District for nearly 30 years. Newcastle Crisis Centre was born from a direct, urgent recognition of need: "There is a great need for the centre in the Amajuba District, as domestic violence and child abuse is high." Over nearly three decades, the centre has housed survivors of domestic violence, rape, human trafficking, and abandoned children, providing emergency residential shelter (place of safety) alongside crisis counselling, individual counselling, marriage counselling, anger management, and a strong referral network for needs that require specialist services. Newcastle is KwaZulu-Natal's third-largest city and industrial hub — home to Madadeni and Osizweni townships with large and underserviced populations. If you are in crisis in Newcastle: 034 315 3389 / walk in at the corner of Sutherland and Paterson Streets / GBV Command Centre 0800 428 428 (toll-free, 24/7).
