About

About SAVF Rustenburg

SAVF (Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue Federasie / South African Women's Federation) is one of South Africa's oldest welfare organisations, founded in Pretoria in 1904 by Scottish-born Georgiana Solomon. With over 120 years of history, SAVF renders welfare and welfare-related services across the country through local branches in partnership with the Department of Social Development.

The Rustenburg branch is located at 212A Kruger Street, Rustenburg, 0300, in the Bojanala Platinum District of North West Province — one of South Africa's most economically significant areas due to platinum mining. Despite the wealth generated by mining, significant social inequalities, unemployment among non-mining residents, and high rates of domestic violence make SAVF Rustenburg a critical community resource.
